Best Time to Visit Richmond Village

Weekday mornings are the quietest time to explore the village. Weekends can get busy, especially in summer. The village is beautiful year-round — autumn colours are spectacular.

Getting Around

A car is essential for exploring beyond Richmond. Hobart is just 20 minutes away. The East Coast or Port Arthur is an easy day trip. We recommend picking up a free Tasmania Visitor Guide from our office.

Salamanca Market

Hobart's famous Salamanca Market runs every Saturday morning from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. It's just 20 minutes from the park and absolutely not to be missed — arrive early for the best stalls.

Coal River Valley Wine Trail

The Coal River Valley is one of Australia's finest cool-climate wine regions. Several cellar doors are within 15 minutes of the park. We recommend booking ahead for weekend lunches.

Wildlife Adventures
